About the Fabiola M. Vigil Memorial Scholarship
Making a real impact on the shift to clean energy and supporting a family legacy of education
Created in memory of VFF founder Fernando Vigil’s grandmother, the Fabiola M. Vigil Memorial Scholarship honors her passion for continuing education. These scholarships provide support for Northern New Mexico students to reflect on climate change and pursue a STEM education in the sciences or renewable energy.
To make a real impact on the shift to clean energy and support a family legacy of education, the Vigil Family Foundation has established the Fabiola M. Vigil Memorial Scholarship for students in the Española Valley. Fabiola was a devoted educator within the Española Public School district for many years and grandmother to VFF founders Fernando Vigil and Marco Vigil. Her passion and devotion for furthering education was instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She raised Engineers, Doctors, Nurses, Educators, Accountants, and Technicians, all of who are graduates of the Española Valley.
This fund has been established to provide scholarships to deserving young men and women who intend to enter a higher education field pertaining or specific to sustainability, renewable energy, engineering, or math & sciences.
“Our objective is to provide opportunities to the community we came from. We want to see these younger generations continue to succeed and acknowledge their hard work. Hopefully, these scholarships will inspire them to find solutions that can impact the environment and their local community. This scholarship could give a student that extra push or boost in confidence to pursue higher education, hopefully in a renewable path.”
- Marco Vigil, Vigil Family Foundation Secretary and Española High School graduate
